Using Agents and MCP Servers with GitHub Copilot and Xcode to Create a Points App - Part 3

by Annett Schwarze | 2026-03-13

Agents and MCP Servers are used to create a Points App with Xcode and GitHub Copilot for Xcode. The app shall track points for multiple players for board games. Atlassian JIRA and Confluence are integrated using MCP servers to manage work and documentation.

Part 3

As part of a documentation-first, AI-augmented delivery strategy, we leveraged automated knowledge synthesis to translate implementation details into structured, stakeholder-ready artifacts. This approach emphasizes traceability, architectural transparency, and cross-functional accessibility by transforming source-aligned technical context into consumable, platform-agnostic documentation.

Confluence

GitHub Copilot for Xcode was tasked with generating documentation covering the app’s technical aspects, including the introduction, architecture, data model, and user flow. The documentation was authored as Markdown files within the project repository and subsequently published as Confluence pages to make it accessible to a broader, non-developer audience.

General Overview

The documentation in Confluence was created thoroughly and with an appropriate level of detail. It provides an overview of the project and includes documentation of the architecture, data model, and user flow. Dedicated introductory sections are available for developers, designers, and testers, allowing each group to quickly familiarize themselves with the project and navigate the documentation efficiently.

Easy Onboarding

The structure of the documentation makes it easy to navigate between high-level concepts and detailed technical information. As a result, new team members can onboard quickly while experienced contributors can efficiently find the information they need.

Confluence - Project Structure

Finished topics are documented alongside planned future features. This provides transparency about both the current implementation and the planned roadmap. The following screenshot illustrates an example of the documented user flow in Confluence.

Summarizing

AI agent integration with Jira, Confluence, and Xcode significantly streamlines the development workflow by connecting project management, documentation, and coding in a single intelligent ecosystem. This enables faster context switching, automated task handling, and better access to relevant information directly within the development process.
